Full Tilt Poker Report: Moving Up a Level

Posted by poker bonus guru | Full Tilt Promos | Tuesday 29 September 2009 11:13 pm

Moving up a level at Full Tilt Poker can be an exciting proposition but not one without peril. It may have taken you weeks, or even months of extreme patience and dedication to achieve a level of security in your bankroll that allows you to move up a level, but there are certain things you should do before making the jump. You can save a lot of painful money losing sessions by actually watching the games before playing on them, where too, you can start your note taking on some of the players as they have probably not been in your circuit and there will be a lot of blanks to fill in. As well, this will give you an accurate handle on your bankroll and the true pressure it’s going to be under.

It doesn’t matter if you’re moving from 5 buck STT’s to 10 buck STT’s or 10/20 hold’em to 20/40 hold’em, you will need advance scouting, and that demands you simply watch the tables you are going to be playing on. Watching involves thinking, analyzing, and guessing at each pot. Your job here is to develop your hand reading skills while being able to decipher who really holds a strong hand, or who is simply making a position play. When I watch games, I try to put the players on hands and see how many or how close I can come. The more you can do this, the more you save on calling poor bets. Money saved in poker, is money earned. After awhile, you will be proud at how many times you can be dead-on when someone turns over their hand. This is so powerful because when you actually do sit at the table, you will not be in awe, or be too sheepish to play your strong hands, and other players will know in short order they can’t run you over.

If you have the dedication to watch a few games, a few hours a night, for a week or so ahead of moving up, you will already be at an advantage of at least half of your opponents when you sit in. In addition, while watching you should absolutely be taking notes on the players. Full Tilt Poker has an excellent note taking option that has color codes labeled right on the player’s avatar. Get a system using 5 or 6 colors that mean something to you, like fish, pro, maniac etc. an use it consistently. You are going to be huge when you sit at a 6 handed table and 3 of them already have colors and notes. Make notes on players that play poor position cards, raise with questionable hands, and bluff too much. These are the types of players you will cash from and make your transition successful.

Your bankroll requirements are sometimes more theoretical than practical. While watching the swings that some of your competitors are taking, and realizing your bankroll may be swallowed in a session it may not be time to move up quite yet. I was offering such advice to a friend of mine who told me he was in a $33 single table tournament – even though his bankroll was only $120. I reminded him about not getting too anxious or greedy to build the bankroll to the extent of putting it at risk. He concurred, you should too.

These steps may seem far too tedious for you. They are for most, but most poker players lose money online. Be different, be prepared, and make the right move up at Full Tilt Poker.

Online Poker – Where Can US Players Play Online Poker Now?

Posted by poker bonus guru | Full Tilt Promos | Tuesday 29 September 2009 3:27 pm

Many US online poker players are wondering where the heck they are going to be able to play texas holdem online now. Don’t worry, there are still some top online poker sites that are friendly to US players. So where can you play?

Full Tilt Poker Remains A US Friendly Site

Full Tilt Poker is one of the many dozens of standalone poker rooms that have emerged in recent years as a participant in the boom of the online poker craze. Launched only a couple of short years ago in 2004, Full Tilt Poker grew quickly because of their advertising campaign, offering the chance to “Chat with the Pros – Play with the Pros – Learn from the Pros”.

And so, their site has procured the services of players such as Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, John Juanda, Andy Bloch, Eric Lindgren, Phil Gordon, Clonie Gowen, and Jennifer Harman. As you can imagine, with an all star line up like this, the site grew quickly.

Full Tilt Poker Software:

The software from Full Tilt Poker is stellar. The site offers some of the best, most detailed software around, with dozens of different options, including built in background changes, avatars and actually decent looking interfaces. While many of the online poker rooms out there offer up garish, unpolished software, Full Tilt Poker has gone the extra mile for theirs.

Incentives:

Like many of the big online poker destinations these days, Full Tilt Poker offers their fair share of bonuses to keep their users with them and lure in new ones. Their sign up bonus is a very enticing 100% match up to $600 on first deposits.

It does take a little while to reach the amount of hands required to unlock the bonus, but for those with the desire and time to play the game, it is well worth it. Along with the deposit bonus, Full Tilt Poker offers a point for every dollar you gain in rake. These points are available for purchasing items from their store or for entry into tournaments.

Player Population:

The larger the site grows, the greater the opportunity is to earn really good money. The competition is growing easier as well as the influx of new and amateur players rises. The result is another mega poker site with a growing population and more and more opportunities to play against weaker and stronger players alike and high stakes tables opening up more often and with higher payouts.

Full Tilt Poker entered the arena of online poker rooms with a gimmick that turned out to be incredibly popular and very effective. The best part about it was that the gimmick was not even quite a gimmick. By offering the chance to play with pros and learn from them, many amateurs jumped right in.

But it’s not just the tag line that makes Full Tilt Poker a popular destination for online poker playing; it’s also the well designed software, well organized play, and quickly growing base.

Full Tilt Poker Report: Sit and Go Strategy

Posted by poker bonus guru | Full Tilt Promos | Sunday 20 September 2009 9:18 am

Sit and go tournaments (STT’s) are the best way to learn poker, advance your game, and build a bankroll online. At Full Tilt Poker however, this is even more applicable because of the blind and prize structures. If you are playing in a certain circuit as well, Full Tilt offers some of the best note taking features on your opponents, whereby this extra information will allow you to make a move with weak hole cards on occasion.

When I first sat at a Full Tilt sit and go table, I was shocked to find the blind levels raise every 5 minutes! I actually thought I had sat a turbo table in error, but when I investigated further I pleasantly discovered that the actual blinds raise in very small increments. I was used to the Party Poker scenario where blinds virtually doubled every time, putting all kinds of pressure to make a move with sub-par hole cards. Full Tilt increments go in very small raises whereby after a full hour of play the blinds are still a reasonable 150/300. With accelerated online play, that means you could have seen up to 100 hands in that hour, which is plenty of time to watch the loose players kill themselves off while you push your solid hands and remain a competitive chip stack by staying out of the action and multi-way pots.

In light of this, your strategy is to simply stay out of hands. If you are in one you should be loaded with a big pair or big slick and forcing the action, not calling it. There are other marginal hands like JJ, AQ, AJs, ATs or smaller pairs that you can call in late position hoping to flop a big hand. If you don’t and that is most likely, you absolutely need the inner strength to fold medium strength hands and draws here to any type of aggression whatsoever. Your ability to lay down hands in these tournaments, are simply what is going to win them for you.

Now, if you know your players well, and have taken notes in this game or others, you may have opportunity to make position moves. When you are late in position, that’s the time to re-raise players who may be over aggressive, maniacal, gun shy, or min-raising chumps who like to see flops. Watch for these rare spots to chip up, otherwise, stay out of the fray.

If you wait for quality hands and bet enough to get heads up against your opponent, you will place in these tournaments without risking a lot. Once you get to third place, aggression is the key here, unless your two opponents are aggressive themselves, and hopefully with each other. First or third should be your guide when 3 handed. Don’t beat yourself up by going out third with a quality hand or position push because the difference between 3rd and 2nd is marginal. You want to win an all in hand so that it puts you in a huge advantage to take first after you win.

Texas Holdem Poker Online – Winning Sit-N-Go Tournaments

Posted by poker bonus guru | Full Tilt Promos | Wednesday 16 September 2009 5:16 am

Where to play poker online, which online poker room to start at, and who gives the best online poker bonus for signing up are many questions online texas holdem players ask quite frequently. Let’s start off with where to play online. When starting online I HIGHLY recommend you start out playing Sit-N-Go’s to build your bankroll instead of jumping right into cash games and losing all your money in a few minutes. If you jump right in to cash games at the poker tables, you will find yourself losing lots and lots of money especially if your use to playing free texas holdem online games. With free money poker tables, players will not play serious and you will NEVER get a feel of how to play unless you play for real money. You should start with Sit-N-Go’s and NEVER look back. Sit-N-Go’s are basically a mini texas holdem poker tournament in which the top 3 players are paid a percentage of the prize pool. Here is the breakdown:

1st Place Win 50% of the prize pool

2nd Place Finish 30% of the prize pool

3rd Place Finish 20% of the prize pool

If you learn poker and study the game well, in about a month you will be mastering single table Sit-N-Go’s in no time and be earning a stable income even if you are just starting out. Now with that being said, which are the best poker sites to play Sit-N-Go’s on? Here are a few recommendations that I suggest:

1. Full Tilt Poker- Full Tilt Poker is a great site to play on when starting out. They offer a 100% deposit bonus for any new players that sign up. It offers all U.S. Citizens the chance to play online to and offer great withdrawal methods such as bank wire transfer. Within 4 days your money is into your account and no fee is associated to cashing out. Fulltilt Poker has great message boards that will teach you texas holdem hands to play and also will give you texas holdem tips. Best of all, Full Tilt Poker supports multi-tabling Sit-N-Go’s. You can play up to 6 Sit-N-Go’s at the same time! Once you master single table Sit-N-Go’s you can move onto multi-tabling. Once you master multi-tabling Sit-N-Go’s, that’s when the income starts flowing in!

2. PokerStars- PokerStars is a great site just starting out. They offer also a 100% deposit bonus for any new players that sign up. There has been many online poker reviews for Poker Stars and many players rank it as one of the top online poker sites out there. They also support U.S. citizens and have many great withdrawal and easy deposit methods. Whether you want to play a free online poker tournament or play for real money, PokerStars definitely one of the top online poker sites out there. There online poker software supports almost every single operating system and is user friendly.

Bottom line is, find the right online poker site that you feel comfortable on and stick to it. Build your bankroll by playing Sit-N-Go’s and eventually you will be able to quit your day job when you master how to earn a stable ROI and ITM (In The Money).

Playing Poker with the Monkeys on Full Tilt

Posted by poker bonus guru | Full Tilt Promos | Saturday 12 September 2009 1:01 pm

You may be involved in many sit and go tournaments that include one or more monkeys that by way of odd circumstance end up with a chip lead and even worse, controlling the table. These players show up far more frequently than usual and because Full Tilt has a lot of them, your bad beats seem more frequent and more fantastic than normal.

Point of note here: A Monkey is a creature reference to players who know not what they are doing. They may be new, drunk, foolish, or just plain entertaining themselves. If these players are not managed well, you can often find yourself caught up in game of “stupid”, where you feel your big cards are just supposed to make the monkey fold to “obvious hole card strength”.

I have a complete “creature guide” for download as your screen background included in my new tournament strategy video series.

I play regularly on several sites and can attest to this valid hypothesis- Bad beats are relative to the amount of bad players you have at your table. I always take the example of Ultimate Bet for instance, where the site is usually full of very serious, knowledgeable players. My bad beats there are far less frequent, and in fact, I am usually the player sucking out against tougher competition!

Such foolish, careless players are often aggravating to the point that you feel you need to mix it up with them holding marginal cards. The better strategy however is to become even more patient than normal, using your MZone calculations to let you know how much time you have left. Certainly, if you are Green MZone or Yellow MZone still, it’s generally much better to watch the action rather than participate while having moderate hole cards.

You can be the tightest player on earth, and a monkey will still pay you off when your hand comes in. In addition, while you are sitting back watching, the monkeys who are not exactly getting along are more often than not, eliminating each other to your benefit.

Here is my general tournament strategy in regards to monkeys: Be extra patient, invite them into your welcoming corner and let them leave their money. They love to leave money (chips), so as a proper gentleman player, simply allow them to.

Tips to Win at Online Poker

Posted by poker bonus guru | Full Tilt Promos | Wednesday 9 September 2009 6:57 am

Online poker has become one of the most popular recreational activities in the world. Because of this, there are always going to be people at online poker that are entering the game for the first time and therefore do not know that much about how to play. These people will go through an initiation where they lose money to better players before they eventually stop playing or they get good enough to hold their own in online competition. If you would like to be on the winning side of things in online poker, here are some tips to help you along.

Play Tighter

The first thing that you are going to want to do in online poker is play tighter than you normally would, at least until you get an idea of what the table is like. People do not really understand why this is so, but it has to do with the idea of opposites. One principle of poker in general is that if you play opposite to the rest of the table, then you will end up winning the money in the long term.

This principle applies equally to online poker and in online poker chances are good that the unknown player will play loose and aggressive in comparison to their offline counterpart. Playing tighter will allow you to pounce on mistakes that person makes. Even if there are no such people at the table, playing tightly will allow you more time to examine how the other players play, thereby allowing you to change your strategy to a complimentary one sooner than you otherwise would be able to do.

Stop when on Tilt

The pace of the online poker game is absolutely staggering in comparison to the pace of the offline game. In conventional poker played in a casino or card room, you are lucky to get in 30 hands in a single hour. In an online poker game, you might get in more than 100 hands in an hour without even playing at a table that speeds up decisions. Therefore, the time you have in between hands is a lot shorter and the time you have to recover from things is a lot shorter as well.

While higher action is good in most cases, in the case of tilt it is a very bad thing. You can not recover from tilt in between hands in online poker, which ultimately means that if you get on tilt after a hand, you are going to be playing on tilt for the next few hands at least. This is not a good position to be in for someone that wants to win at online poker and because of the speed differential you need to make sure that you stop playing when you are on tilt. Sit out and take a walk to get off tilt because when you combine the poor decision-making of tilted minds and the fast pace of the Online Poker game, the recipe for disaster is pretty easy to see.

Poker- What Is Tilt?

Posted by poker bonus guru | Full Tilt Promos | Saturday 5 September 2009 4:42 pm

Poker is also a game of controlled emotion as it requires opponents to think logically when there is lots of money at stake. Any time money gets involved, human beings are naturally inclined to get emotional. People generally get huge highs when they are winning money and huge lows when they are losing. Tilt occurs when a player lets the lows of poker distract him from making good decisions. Tilt is a result of a player letting his emotions get in the way of his decisions. There are many causes of tilt that come into play when you are at the poker table. Bad beats occur when a player is ahead and a miracle card falls to give his opponent the best hand. If a player is inexperienced and unable to control his emotions, one bad beat can cause him to go on tilt and lose his entire stack. Aggression can also cause your opponent to go on tilt. If you are constantly raising your opponent and he is not picking up any hands to play back, he can take a turn for the worse and start playing terrible. Against tight players, you can purposely keep raising them until they go on tilt. Once you notice they are not playing their normal game, you can slow down and play better hands.

I guarantee your opponent will start playing marginal hands in an attempt to win back all of his lost money. Players often go on tilt when things are not going the way they want. Players who are used to winning get really frustrated when they are not winning as much as they expect. They will often try moves they don’t usually make and end up giving away their chips. Lastly, there are players who come into the game already on tilt. You may notice the player who is drunk or tired, he is the best opponent to have. The drunk or tired player will obviously be playing below his skill level, as he does not have his full concentration. Take advantage of players who are on tilt simply by being at the same table as these opponents. There are many reasons for players to tilt, take advantage of your opponents and try to control your own emotions.

Comparing Online Poker Sites

Posted by poker bonus guru | Full Tilt Promos | Monday 31 August 2009 6:52 pm

Online poker is still alive and well. While many sites have stopped taking on U.S. poker players there are still plenty of online poker opportunity on the World Wide Web. In this article we compare two sites on different aspects of online play. Poker Stars and Full Tit Poker.

Poker Stars

Poker Stars is the largest online site, with over 100,000 players at any particular time. As I write this article there are currently 131,000 playing either tournaments or cash games. If your just getting started with online poker, Poker Stars has free rolls almost every hour. The games rotate between Texas Hold ‘Em, Omaha, Razz, Stud, Bedugi, and HORSE. They all can accommodate up 12,000 people. These are first round satellites. The top 64, 72, 88, or 99 finishers (depending on the game) move on to round two tournaments held on the weekends and have a $2,000 prize pool.

Poker Stars has a wide array of scheduled tournaments starting at just ten cents all the way up to $200 buy-in. The top 10% normally make the money. Occasionally the site offers a 20% payout tournament that pays double the amount of players. The big regularly scheduled tournament on the site is called “Sunday Millions.” The site offers a number of small buy in satellites to this tournament, which has a buy-in of $215 and once a month, a $500 buy-in. Sunday Millions has a guaranteed prize pool of $1.5 Million. The winner walks away with approximately $170,000.

The sit and go schedule on Poker Stars is especially impressive, with limits ranging from $1.00 all the way up to $5,000. The sit and go fields range from heads up (one on one) to 180 players.

Cash games at Poker Stars are also quite extensive, starting at .01-.02 blinds to an amazing $1,000/$2,000 game. Cash games are offered in just about poker game you want to play

including HORSE and Deuce to Seven Lowball.

Full Tilt Poker

Full Tilt is where I spend most of my online poker playing. Full Tilt has about 60,000 players at any particular time. The biggest attraction at Full Tilt is the approachability of the Full Tilt Pros. Full Tilt offers poker forums and live chats with various poker pros where you can ask pros strategy questions in real time. You will see pros like Allen Cunningham, Mike Matusow, David Pham, or Erick Lindgren playing tournaments and cash games. The very unique feature of Full Tilt Poker is a bounty on any pro in any tournament of 30 players or more. If you knock a pro out of any tournament you receive a bounty of the tournament buy-in up to $200.

You can literally find any poker game you want at Full Tilt in tournaments or cash game. Imagine playing a Razz cash game. You can find it at Full Tilt.

Full Tilt’s free roll schedule are about one every two hours. The field size is dramatically lower than Poker Stars with a limit of 2700 people, but only 27 players make the money. These free rolls are not satellites, they are real money tournaments with a $100 prize pool. The games rotate between No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em, Omaha, Razz and HORSE.

The Tournament schedule at Full Tilt is quite vast. You can find a $3.00, 90 player, bounty sit and go tournament. The range of buy-ins at Full Tilt range from $2.00 up to $1,000. The payouts are always the top 10% of the field. Full Tilt offers a number of “daily double” tournaments. They are two consecutively running tournaments with identical buy-ins. (the buy-ins are $5.00, $10.00, and $60.00 at various times of the day) If you cash in both tournaments you win extra money from extra jackpot prize pool. If you are able to win both tournaments you win the entire jackpot.

Full Tilt has a Sunday feature tournament, “The $750,000 guarantee.” Anywhere from 20 to 50 poker professionals will play in the tourney each Sunday. Satellites from as little as 50 Full Tilt Player Points can get you into this feature tournament.

Full Tilt has an extensive list of sit and go tournaments ranging in buy-in from $1.00 to an astonishing $5,000. The fields range from heads up (one on one) to 90 players. Sit and go games include Hold ‘Em, Omaha, Razz, Stud, HOSE and HORSE. One unique sit and go that is exclusive to Full Tilt are their “Matrix”sit and go tournaments. In these tournaments you play four, one table sit and go tournaments at the same time against the same eight opponents. The tournament pays out based on survival and knock out points.
